Getting To Mackinac Island

Most people get to Mackinac Island by first driving to Mackinaw City or St. Ignace and then taking a ferry. Others arrive by either plane or private boat.

Mackinac Island Ferry Information

Shepler's Ferry and Star Line Ferry depart daily from both Mackinaw City and St. Ignace from May through October.

By Road

To get to Mackinac Island by road, you must first travel to Mackinac City or St. Ignace in the Lower Peninsula. From there: take a ferry to reach the Island.

By Air

Mackinac Island is served by the Pellston, Michigan airport.

In Winter

Winter access to the island is limited, but not as isolated as many people think.
