Mission House

Many early 19th century Protestant missionaries came to Mackinac in 1825 with the goal of converting the Indians. Sponsored by the Presbyterians of Boston, Reverend William Ferry and his wife taught practical skills like horseshoeing and gardening to the boys, and cooking, bed making and housekeeping to the girls in the Island Mission House.
