My sister and I have been coming to Mackinac Island at least once a year, for the past ten years. Some years we take children and grandchildren, sometimes we go alone, but WE LOVE IT. We try different hotels and inns, and haven't found a bad one yet. For those of you who want to know if it is family-friendly, or kid-friendly, the answer to both is ABSOLUTELY. Kids love this place. Mission Point in particular caters to families with children. Their lobby is huge and a great place to sit just to relax and play cards or read. I've seen that a lot of people worry about the hills. You don't have to climb the hills to enjoy the island. My sister and I are in our sixties now, and we walk a lot, but avoid the steep climbs. We used to walk the entire island when we first started visiting, but we both suffer from knee problems now, so we limit our walking to the level ground. It does not detract from our enjoyment of the island one bit. We Love This Place and your web site is our little boost until we can get back.

I saw the story on Mackinac Is. on the Today Show on NBC. What a beautiful place! No Cars = No Cares! I look forward to visiting as soon as I am able. (PS - I really enjoyed the movie "Somewhere in Time"!)

Mackinac holds a very special place in my heart. My wedding is August 13th 2005 and we will be married on the beach. I am bringing up my family to see the most wonderful Island in the world. I hope they love it as much as I do. If I could live anywhere, Mackinac would be it. I will see you soon. Love you so much Mac!!! Never ever change.

There is no fudge in the whole world better than on Mackinac Island. With all the flavors and great service it is one place that nomatter the age it is just a great place to be. One time I went with my grandparents and even they couldn't stay away from it. I don't know what I would do without Mackinac Island because if there was not there there wouldn't be the fudge.I love Mackinac and its fudge. Good job with the fudge, L-bell the fudgie :D

As a child i went to Mackinac Island with my mother and my girl scout troup. Now I'm 18 and am planning my very own trip with my boyfriend. He's never been there and this site totally helped him get an idea of what the island is like. It helped plan every inch of our trip, from what hotel, to what package to the things we are going to do. I'll let you all know how much we enjoyed it and how his first time there was. I'm sure he'll love it since he's a huge history buff and the island is full of it and my ancestors. My ancestors are buried on the island and the metivier inn is part of it all. I love the island!!

To: Homey from Smiths Creek, USA If you dislike the island as much as it sounds in your message to Mary from Wisconsin maybe you should find something else on the internet to be an expert about. I belive this page is entitled "Mackinac.com". Going to the island can be expensive - depending on what you choose to do but you know the old saying, "you get what you pay for". There are many things to do, some more costly than others. Once you're on the island, you don't have to pay a dime to view the natural beauty. I love this island and wouldn't trade a thing for all the money I've spent there on my past three visits. Thanks for providing such a wonderful website!! I feel like I'm there in person every time I visit Mackinac.com.

I first went to the island as a high school senior with my parents and LOVED IT! I've been back twice since with my husband and I just can't get enough of Mackinac Island. I have traveled a lot but it's still my very favorite place to go. Please DO NOT EVER allow any chain restaurants or cars on the island! It's perfectly charming just the way it is. I frequently view the web cam at the Island House too. Thanks to everyone who makes Mackinac Island the wonderful place it is.
