9:30am Lilac Festival 10K - This paved road race is the first big event of the festival. $25 per person, Windermere Point - to register online, visit www.runmackinac.com

11:00am Lil Lilac Run/Walk - A fabulous run/walk in the school yard. $10 per person, Mackinac Island Schoolyard - to register online, visit www.runmackinac.com

11am-3pm Go Lakers! - To help raise funds for the Mackinac Island Lakers sports programs, the school has set up a great fundraiser of all things wearable to show your team spirit. Mackinac Island Public School.

11-4pm Mackinac Island Public Library Annual Book Sale - Stop in and pick up some books to support our library. The Library is a architectural gem and was designed by Richard Bos of Royal Oak, Michigan and the interior design is by Dorothy Draper protégé Carleton Varney, who is also the interior designer for Grand Hotel.

1pm-5pm Black Star Farms Wine Tasting – Join the winemakers from Michigan’s celebrated Black Star Farms at Mission Point’s Bistro on the Greens. Nominal fee

4:30pm Grand Hotel Jazz Quartet - A unique opportunity to hear Grand Hotel musicians and Musical Director Alex Graham in an open air pre-coronation concert. Windermere Point

5:30pm Coronation of the Lilac Festival Queen - We welcome the Lilac Festival Queen & her court with Mayor Doud and other community members at Windermere Point (rain location, Windermere Hotel Lobby)

6pm Cannonball BBQ Hayride - Take a meandering hayride from downtown to British Landing for a relaxed dinner on the shoreline at the Cannonball, a tradition since 1905. For pricing and reservations: (906) 847-0932

7:30-9:30pm Dancing’ in the Streets - Learn Country Line Dancing with the West Michigan Bootscooters, Stuart House Museum on Market Street. Everyone welcome!
